ARTISTS IN CABO AND SAN JOSE DEL CABO

Chris MacClure
www.goldencactusgallery.com
As a romantic painter Chris captures the essence of timelessness in nature. This love is expressed in living colors and the hues and tones of his paintings give applause to the on-going miracle. They are an invitation to others to feel the same peace and harmony, which only this rapport with nature can give. Fascinated by the subtleties of nature, Chris’ paintings are an expression of his romantic view of life and usually reflect the environment he is in. From scenes of the Hotel California, in Todos Santos, Baja, a monk arranging flowers in a monastery in Hong Kong, a classical pianist or a vintage clothing shop, Chris’ engaging style is evident in his perfected usage of the illusive color changes and natural compositions. Using landscapes as a language, Chris incorporates imagery and symbolism in his art to reflect his own unique expression.
Born into an artistic family on the east coast of Canada, Chris was surrounded by the arts from a young age. “My father was a jazz musician and mother was a playwright. My grandfather was also an illustrator, so it never occurred to me that I couldn’t do it. I assumed everyone was an artist.” This sense of inner confidence has taken Chris to places and studios around the world for more than 30 years, giving him a wide range of opportunities to hone his skills and mediums. During his travels, he attended Sir George Williams’ University in Montreal and the Emily Carr School of Design in Vancouver, B.C. His works have been exhibited across Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Hong Kong and his paintings can be found in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide. Some collectors include, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, James Whitmore, Bill Clinton, Boris Yeltsin, Pepsi Co., and the Ford Motor Corp. who had, for the first time, licensed an artist to publish limited edition art pieces. This series, by Chris, is officially titled The Ford Collection.
He was first published in 1981 and since that time, has had numerous sold-out limited edition prints. Chris also has had many solo and group exhibitions over the last thirty years. “Art, I believe, is high creative play... a combination of wisdom, experience and innocence. By this, all people have the ability to express themselves. The extent of that inspired expression will be according to each ones’ awareness. To be an artist is to be a pioneer. While education gives you the direction, living the life of an artist gives you the inspiration. Chris currently paints and resides in Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico, when not on personal tour.

Brent Heighton
www.brentheighton.com
Brent Heighton has been painting fulltime for over 20 years. After college Brent began a brief career in the commercial art field. Not satisfied with the deadlines, the rush jobs, and working out other peoples ideas as to how they wanted things to look, he realized that as difficult as working in the fine arts was, becoming a painter of what you want and not what someone else wants, was the most important and satisfying. He has never looked back on or regretted taking that chance.
Working as a fulltime artist has allowed Brent to travel all over
the world in search of ideas and things to paint. Brent has traveled
with his family to Europe, spending time in France, Holland, Belgium,
and as far south as Greece. All the time with paints and brushes
in hand, always looking for that inspiration just around the corner.
The difference of light in a place like Greece compared to Cornwall,
England is very exciting says Brent. During the last few years Brent
has traveled to Mexico numerous times. The architecture, the people,
and the light is what keeps enticing Brent back, “I find Mexico
helps my creative juices start to flow when I’m there and
I love the color of the light,” says Brent.
Brent’s watercolors and oils have been well received by many corporate and private collectors in over 25 countries. Brent has had exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Germany, Belgium, Holland, many parts of the U.S. and most recently Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Paul Ygartua
www.ygartua.com
Paul Ygartua, N.D.D., is an excellent artist and designer,
but most of all, this international artist is an original creator
producing remarkable work. Ygartua was born in a town near Liverpool,
England, his father Basque from Northern Spain and his mother British.
He studied at the famous Liverpool Art College with John Lennon
in the early 60´s and listened to the Beatles at the Cavern
every lunch hour. He has a degree in Industrial Design and is a
qualified gold and silversmith. During the 80´s his interpretations
of the peoples of the world were a rewarding success as evidenced
by his North American Native Heritage Series and his monumental
murals Native Heritage, Chemainus, BC and the United Nations Pavilion
at Expo´86 in Vancouver, Canada. These murals have received
international acclaim.
In his paintings he seeks to interpret the fundamental values of the nomadic peoples of the world and also in his more intimate work to illustrate the workings of the mind and soul. During his travels abroad his family accompanies him and together they have traveled to the far corners of the earth from Copacabana to Jerusalem and from Hawaii to Europe. They share with him the beauties of the countries visited and especially the people who live there. Since the 90´s Paul has worked on many important projects including two large murals - Salute to the Legends of the 20th Century, Vancouver, Canada (300´x30´) and United by Our Children, Ely, Nevada, USA (30´x110´).
His work is now moving towards a new direction - abstract expression – vibrant and passionate, colorful and bold, and this is particularly captured in his new Jazz studies where he portrays the unforgettable Jazz Musicians of the past and present. His paintings are in public and private collections worldwide and are
treasured for their intrinsic and real value.

Jonn Einerssen
www.einerssen.com
A force and beauty distinguishes Jonn Einerssen’s paintings which reflects the artist’s own powerful vision and a philosophical, spiritual approach to his art. “Skies, the prairies and the ocean all provide an unlimited scope for communicating what I feel.” Einerssen says. “In these subjects, the power of nature rules.” The big skies are always dominant providing a challenging diversion from seascapes. “I see these natural elements as abstracts which cannot be controlled by man. Man can simply become a participant, adapting to their seasons and rhythms.”
Jonn Einerssen works almost exclusively in oils, layering glazes to create a translucent and harmonious play of light and color. While each painting is a bold, realistic interpretation, it begins with an impressionistic approach. The artist blocks in a painting from a feeling, a process that may take form several hours to a day. He then works other blockins until the feelings subside, progressing to a technical approach which puts the” feeling” into an intense, recognizable form.
Remarkably, Einerssen, born in 1949, did not begin painting or even
sketching until he was 21. Both privately and self taught, he quickly
became a flourishing, self-sustaining artist, capturing the attention
of private and corporate collectors. He conducts workshops throughout
the year, passing on this disciplined approach to aspiring artists
while demonstrating his masterful style and technique.
