There are several distinct areas that together are known as Los Cabos – Cabo San Lucas at the tip of Land's End; San Jose del Cabo, the slower paced historic colonial town about a half-hour drive north of Cabo San Lucas; and the Tourist Corridor between the two municipalities. Those areas are where you'll find the greatest number of options for places to stay with dozens of hotels, resorts and all-inclusive properties. Further out from the San Jose del Cabo International Airport are the towns of Pescadero and Todos Santos on the Pacific side and the East Cape region on the Sea of Cortez side of the cape. In this section of our Cabo Travel guide we'll help you find which area, and which hotel, resort or private accomodation best fits your needs.
Sometimes bigger is better. Especially if you want multiple swimming pools, lots of onsite restaurants and bars and a wide beachfront setting. Playa Grande Resort in Cabo San Lucas brings the ultimate in luxury to Land’s End and everything here is done on a grand scale. Huge arches with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, a large domed lobby complemented by granite and onyx floors, sculptured columns and gorgeous artwork wherever you gaze are all part of the package. Playa Grande provides up-scale luxury with room rates within reach of most Los Cabos bound vacationers.
From the moment you arrive and the bellmen cart off your baggage, you can't help but be awed at the scale of this elegant and seductive hotel. The lobby with its high ceilings is wrapped in windows. Natural light floods in and creates an open and welcoming space that brings the thought.... "Ahhh... I'm on vacation." Being on the Pacific side of Land's End, Playa Grande's beach is free of vendors yet you are within walking distance of downtown and the Cabo marina.
5 minutes drive from downtown Cabo yet it feels like it's a world away from the hustle and bustle. That's Sirena del Mar, a Welk Resorts hotel. The hotel features roomy suites that feel more like luxury apartments than hotel rooms. Suites feature full kitchens, washer/dryers, huge jacuzzi style soaking tubs and balconies that bring the ocean waves close enough to feel the salt air mist. If you love the sound of waves crashing a rocky shore, this is the right place for you.
We've stayed and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The fact that this is a smaller hotel than most along the coast of Los Cabos makes it an intimate oasis. The staff gets to know you and that goes a long way in making for a memorable stay. This is not an all-night party spot, things get quiet here not too long after sunset. The pool area is extra special with plenty of levels to find your own private spot and the views to Land's End are about the best you can find. Another amazing feature... a swimmable beach with excellent snorkeling a short walk from your room!
